U Kwong (Vietnam), the company’s first production plant out of China, commences operation
Major improvements are made in all of U Kwong’s plants to quicken production and enhance hygiene standards, including a dust-free production space for all food packaging. Production lines in all of U Kwong’s plants are refined to increase productivity and thus enhance price competitiveness.
U Kwong has four plants operating in major industrial centers in southern and eastern China. With over 1,800 employees in total, annual productivity reaches approximately 35,000 metric tons.
The Kunshan plant moves to a new location.
U Kwong’s operations extend to eastern China with the opening of the Kunshan plant.
Mr Anthony Chan becomes President of U Kwong Group. U Kwong (Foshan) is established.
U Kwong (Dongguan), the company’s second production plant in Mainland China, commences operation.
With the opening of its plant in Shenzhen, U Kwong becomes one of the first blister packaging manufacturers to set up operations in Mainland China.
U Kwong is appointed as the Hong Kong distributor for Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, the largest plastic sheet maker in Taiwan and a subsidiary of the Formosa Plastics Group conglomerate.
U Kwong is founded in Hong Kong by Mr Chan Kam Choon.
